Approximately 3.30 pmSunday 20 February 2011 a 14 year old girl was walking along Mersey Main Road, Spreyton when she was approached by a man driving a white van. The van was travelling on the incorrect side of the road in the vicinity of the Woodrising Avenue intersection.

Motorists have been reminded of the need to drive appropriately within school zones, with more than 120 people recently issued with infringements.

Tasmania Police Urge Motorcycle Safety

Tasmania Police and the Tasmania Motorcycle Council are concerned about the recent serious and fatal motorcycle crashes in the state. In February four single vehicle motorcycle crashes resulted in the death of two riders and two riders being critically injured.
