High winds Southern Tasmania

The SES and Tasmania Police are advising all schools to provide advice to students that due to the continuing high winds in Southern Tasmania to be careful when leaving school this afternoon.

SES – High Winds Update for Tasmania

The State Emergency Service advises that damaging winds are affecting parts of the State causing damage to property. The main issues at this time are fallen power lines, debris caused by fallen trees and vegetation, and damage to buildings.

Wind Hazard and Road closures

Tasmania Police advise that they are dealing with a significant number of calls related to the high winds currently being experienced. Gusty winds will make driving conditions dangerous during today in many parts of the state, and Police ask motorists to exercise extreme caution on exposed roads.
