Operations Crossroads – Christmas/New Year

Today marks the beginning of Operation Crossroads for the Christmas/New Year period. The Christmas Holiday Road Toll reporting period is being accessed from 00:01 hours on Monday 23rd December till 23:59 hours on Friday 3 January 2014.

Stolen Firearms – West Moonah

During the late evening of Saturday 21/12/13 and the early hours of 22/12/13 unknown persons have entered a motor vehicle parked in a private driveway at Fourth Avenue, West Moonah. Two firearms, which were contained in a key locked firearms case, were stolen from inside the vehicle.

Vehicle Damage – Steele Street, Devonport

Approximately 9.25 pm on Saturday 21 December 2013 police responded to a loud explosion in Steele Street, Devonport. Upon arrival it was ascertained that a 2001 gold Nissan Patrol had been damaged using an explosive device.

House Fire – 8 Carslake Street, Clarendon Vale

At 11:19pm Saturday 21 December 2013, Tasmania Police and Tasmania Fire Service were notified of a house fire at 8 Carslake Street, Clarendon Vale. House Fire – 3 Rosetta Place, Ravenswood

About 9.55pm on Friday the 20th of December 2013, Police and Fire Service personnel attended a report of a house fire at 3 Rosetta Place, Ravenswood. The house was occupied at the time of the fire and the occupant escaped without injury.

Helicopter Rescue – Gordon River

On Thursday 19 December 2013 the Westpac Rescue Helicopter was tasked by AUSSAR to search for an EPIRB activation in the vicinity of the Gordon River. The helicopter flew to the area where they located two males stranded on the side of the swollen river.

Former Catholic Brother charged with historical assaults upon two school boys

(NSW Police Media Release): Sex Crimes Squad detectives have arrested a former Catholic Brother for alleged historical sexual offences against two children at a western Sydney school. Strike Force Avia detectives believe a person residing in Tasmania could have information integral to their ongoing inquiries and are urging them to contact police.

Male Charged With Attempted Armed Robberies

On the 16th December Hobart CIB Detectives charged a 35 yr old Clarendon Vale male with 2 counts of attempted armed robbery which both occurred on the 26th November 2013.

Lost Walker, South Coast

On Monday 16 December 2013 the Westpac Rescue Helicopter was tasked to search for a missing walker in the vicinity of Mt Melaluca in the state’s South West.

Theft of Firearms – Elwick Road, Glenorchy

Officers from Glenorchy Criminal Investigation Branch are investigating the theft of 14 firearms from a private residence at Elwick Road, Glenorchy.
