Queen’s Birthday Honours

Widely acknowledged and recognised for his level of expertise in traffic policing and implementation of significant projects, Inspector Mark Beech-Jones has been recognised in this year’s Queen’s Birthday Honours list.

Fatal Three Car Crash – Rocky Cape

At approximately 16.30 hrs on Sunday the 8th of June 2014, a three car crash occurred on Bass Highway at Rocky Cape. The crash occurred approximately 1.7 km west of Pollard Road Junction.

Child Dies In West Coast 4WD Accident

At about 10:45 am on Sunday 8/6/14, a crash involving a single vehicle and a three year old boy from the Huon was reported to police and the Tasmanian Ambulance Service.

Damage – Port Dalrymple School Library, George Town

At approximately 4pm on Saturday 7 June 2014 the Port Dalrymple School on Agnes Street George Town was unlawfully entered and significant damage was caused.

Waddamana Area – Missing Persons – Search Update

Tasmania Police have now confirmed that stolen property, and a number of items of interest were located in the vehicle related to the search for four missing men in the Waddamana area.

Structural Fire – Hamers Hotel, Strahan

At 4:35pm on Saturday the 7th June 2014, Police received a report that the historic Hamers Hotel was on fire with flames coming out of the roof.

Arson – Impact Fertilizer, Derwent Park

Just after 4.15 am on Saturday 7 June 2014, Tasmania Fire Service responded to a report of a fire at Impact Fertiliser, situated on Derwent Park Road, Derwent Park, adjacent to Nystar. Multiple TFS units attended and eventually bought the fire under control, and restricted fire damage to the electrical control room.

Waddamana Area – Missing Persons Located

Tasmania Police have now located all four men, initially reportedly missing in the Waddamana area since 6th June. The men were all located safe and well.

Waddamana Area – Concern For Welfare Of Three Men (Update)

On the 6th of June 2014, police were alerted that four men staying in bushland in the Waddamana area, near Bothwell were overdue and may have become lost. Whilst one male has since been located, alive and well, the remaining three males are still missing.
