Police investigation ongoing into Devonport dog attack

Police have received advice from the Devonport City Council that the dog which attacked a child last night has been euthanised.  Police are continuing to investigate if any offence has been committed under the Dog Control Act.

Tasmania Police today joined with Health, WorkSafe and Transport inspectors in a day of action in Hobart to highlight the importance of checking in at businesses and taxi/rideshares. Two cautions were issued by Police during the joint operation. The cautions were issued to people whose behaviour demonstrated they had not checked in anywhere previously.

Sadly, the 80-year-old woman involved in the Burnie CBD crash on Tuesday 24 August has died in hospital. Our thoughts are with the woman’s family and friends. The requirement to ‘check in’ at retail venues and taxis/rideshares will be highlighted in three days of COVID-19 compliance action across the state, starting tomorrow. Crash update – Penna Road, Midway Point

Sadly the 42-year-old man involved in a crash at Penna Road, Midway Point on 17 August has died in hospital. Initial investigations indicate the man had a medical episode before the crash, causing him to lose consciousness. Our thoughts are with the man’s family and friends.
