At 4:20 pm on Thursday 22 November 2012, a male person disguising his appearance, entered the Glenorchy Newsagency at Glenorchy Centro Complex and brandished a knife at the female attendant whilst demanding money. 

The offender grabbed a calico bag containing a quantiy of cash.  The male offender then fled the complex and entered a taxi before being dropped off in the vicinity of Hull Street, Glenorchy.  No person was physically injured during the commission of the crime.

As a result of investigations conducted, Detectives from Glenorchy CIB arrested a 26 year old male from West Moonah on Tuesday afternoon, 27 November 2012.  The male was interviewed at Hobart Police Station and charged with one count of Armed Robbery and bailed with conditions to appear in the Hobart Court of Petty Sessions on Monday 7 January 2013.
