On Thursday 17 November 2011, Tasmania Police and Tasmania Fire Service (TFS) responded to a structure fire at the Church of Christ at Holland Court, Howrah.

The fire was extinguished by fire officers soon after arrival; however, the office sustained considerable damage as a result.  The estimated cost of damage was in excess of $15,000.

On Thursday 1 December 2011, Detectives from Eastern Criminal Investigation Branch charged a 25 year old male with one count of burglary and arson relating to the fire.  

The male was detained for an out of hours court sitting.
