On Wednesday 29 September 2010, Tasmania Police and Tasmania Fire Service responded to a house fire on Midland Highway, Mangalore.

The fire was extinguished by fire officers soon after arrival however the residence sustained severe damage. There were no occupants in the house at the time of the fire.  

The estimated cost of damage was in excess of $150,000.

On Friday 27 May 2011, Eastern Criminal Investigation Branch charged a 51 year old man with arson in relation to this matter. He will appear in court at a later date.
