At 1.50pm 4 September 2013, a 30 year old man was shot at close range inside the Cape Barren Island Shop by a 55 year local man known to him.

As a result the victim was taken by Tas Air Ambulance to Launceston where he later underwent treatment for non life threatening injuries.

The alleged offender was arrested inside the shop by Flinders Island Police and he was flown to Launceston in company of members of Launceston CIB.

The 55 year old man from Cape Barren was later formally charged with attempted murder and detained for court at 11.30am Thursday 5 September 2013.
