Glenorchy assault – assistance required

Glenorchy detectives are appealing for a ‘white knight’ who yesterday went to the aid of a lady being assaulted to come forward and assist police with their enquiries.

Yesterday (Thursday 19 August 2010) at around 12.30pm a 20-year-old lady was assaulted in the underground car park of Big W at Glenorchy. A male person assaulted the lady as she was leaning in the back door of her car fixing her son into the child restraint. She was pushed and hit and fought her way out of the car by kicking and screaming. A motive for the attack is not known and a description of the offender is limited to a male person with glasses, balding, over 180 cm in height and wearing a grey/green long sleeved top.

A male person came to the aid of the lady and assisted her by placing the male attacker in a headlock. The female victim has then driven off without having time to thank or identify her ‘white knight’.

Detectives, as a matter of priority, would like to speak to the male person who assisted this lady and accordingly would appreciate him contacting the Glenorchy Police Station.

If any other person witnessed the assault in the Big W car park their assistance would also be appreciated. They are also asked to contact police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
