Home Burglaries

In the last three weeks there has been a spate of home burglaries in Glenorchy, Rosetta, Montrose, Claremont, Moonah and Derwent Park areas.  Offenders have entered premises during the daylight / early evening hours when the occupants are not home.  Entry has been gained via the rear of the houses.

The items stolen have been laptop computers, tablets, cash, jewellery, Xboxes and play station gaming consoles.

Police are asking members of the public in these suburbs to be vigilant and to report any suspicious activity or vehicles so police can attend to the incident as it is occurring and respond to all information.  It is particularly important to pay attention to the sound of breaking glass or people and vehicle descriptions.

“We believe it is only a matter of time before investigators apprehend the people responsible however with information from members of the public, this can occur quickly and prevent further home burglaries in the area,” Detective Senior Constable Wood said.

“If you see or hear anything suspicious, we would encourage you to contact police immediately so that we can respond,” she said.

It is important that members of the public ensure their houses and properties are locked, particularly rear windows and doors that are not visible from the street.
