Man charged over alleged shooting incident
Police have charged a 36-year-old man from Lenah Valley with wounding and firearms offences following investigations into an alleged shooting at Herdsmans Cove on Wednesday afternoon.
It is alleged the man shot a 42-year-old man in the leg with a homemade firearm during an altercation at a private residence.
The two parties are known to each other, and this is an isolated incident.
One man sustained non-life-threatening injuries, and he received treatment at the Royal Hobart Hospital on Wednesday night. He later discharged himself from hospital.
Police attended Lenah Valley on Wednesday night where a man was taken into custody without incident and detained for court. The firearm believed to be used in the earlier incident was seized from a vehicle.
