Emergency Response Training

Tasmania’s emergency services are undertaking further training to ensure preparedness for any large-scale emergency. The State Government has provided funding for Emergency Management Australia (EMA) to conduct multi-agency training for incident managers and controllers.

Unit Fire – Fossey Place, Devonport

Shortly before 4:30pm on Thursday the 12 December 2013 police were notified of a house fire at 1/1 Fossey Place, Miandetta.

Rescue of diver and recovery of vessel – Sloping Main

At around 1:30pm Wednesday 11 December 2013, 2 men in their late 30’s were SCUBA diving off Sloping Island on the Tasman Peninsula, when their 19 foot fiberglass vessel began dragging its anchor in strong winds. One of the divers observed this and attempted to swim to the vessel but was unable to prevent it from being taken with the wind.

Wounding Incident – Man Arrested and Charged

At approximately 11:30am today, police were called to attend a disturbance on Main Road Rosetta. A 42 year old man from Bellerive was arrested at the scene, he was later charged with one count of wounding and will appear in court.

Wounding Incident – Man Arrested

At approximately 11:30am today (11 December 2013), police were called to attend a disturbance on Main Road, Rosetta. Upon arrival it was ascertained two men who were known to each other have engaged in a verbal argument. One of the men has smashed the window of a car. The owner of the car has used a pair of scissors to cause a 4cm laceration to the back of the other parties head.
