Christmas Road Safety Message

With the festive season upon us, Tasmania Police are preparing for one of the busiest times of the year. Tasmania Police is committed to public safety and will have additional high visibility patrols on our highways and major roads to improve safety.

Operation Unite in Tasmania

Tasmania Police detected a total of 88 offences over the weekend of Operation Unite: A Blitz Against Drunken Violence. Operation Unite was run over the Friday and Saturday nights (2-3 Dec) in Hobart, Launceston, Burnie and Devonport.

Fisherman rescue east of Tasman Island

The PV Van Dieman has reached the fishing trawler with an injured fisherman on board.

Motorcycle Riders Associations (MRA) Toy Run – traffic advice

Tasmania Police wishes to remind motorists that the 2011 Motorcycle Riders Associations (MRA) Toy Run will be conducted tomorrow (Saturday 3rd Dec).

Arson charges

On Thursday 17 November 2011, Tasmania Police and Tasmania Fire Service (TFS) responded to a structure fire at the Church of Christ in Howrah. While the fire was quickly extinguished by fire officers, the office sustained considerable damage as a result.

Police are currently searching for a 73 year old female, Norma Jean YOUD dob 10/1/1938, who went missing in the Claremont area on 1st December 2011.

Nubeena Police have charged a 27 year old man from Saltwater River with cultivating a controlled plant for sale.

Man charged with loitering near children

Hobart Detectives have charged a 48 year old New South Wales man in relation to loitering near children.
