Police are investigating a serious single vehicle crash involving a Volvo FM series Prime Mover at 6.50am today on Denison Road, Lonnavale.

Police and emergency services were called to the scene about 6:55am.

Preliminary investigations indicate the vehicle rolled onto its side. At this stage police believe that speed was not a factor.

The 59-year-old driver was taken by air ambulance to the Royal Hobart Hospital where he is receiving treatment for serious injuries.

Denison Road was closed for eight hours to allow crash investigators to examine the scene and conduct inquiries.
