A Tasmania Police officer will be charged with making a false declaration.

The Senior Constable, from Launceston, will be charged via summons with one count of making a false Statutory Declaration under Section 113 of the Criminal Code Act 1924.

The charge relates to an incident in Devonport in October. The officer was off duty at the time.

The officer remains suspended and on full pay at this point in time and will appear in court at a later date.

It is inappropriate to make any further comment at this time given that the matter is before the courts.
