Protest action against Takayna Ultra Marathon – Marrawah

Police are investigating protest action against the Takayna Ultra Marathon at Marrawah Memorial Hall earlier today.

 

At approximately 5.30am today, police were contacted relating to a protest at the hall.

 

Investigations revealed that a small group of protestors had gathered at the hall in protest against the Takayna Ultra Marathon, organised and run by the Bob Brown Foundation.

 

On arrival, police observed a peaceful protest with a single vehicle blocking access to the road leading to the start of the event.

 

On a direction of police, the vehicle was moved and competitors and organisers were able to access the event start area.

 

When competitors and organisers at the start of the event, damage to a marquee was discovered and reported to police.

 

Police are investigating the incident, including reported damage to a marquee.
