Road safety operation detects 25 motorists speeding through roadworks

Police today conducted a speeding operation targeted at those travelling through roadworks on the Midland Highway.

In a little over two hours, a single police unit detected 25 motorists speeding within roadworks, the majority of these offenders were detected within metres of road workers.

Constable Chris Jackson of Campbell Town Police is pleading with motorists to slow down through roadworks.

“No one deserves to be put at risk at work because drivers don’t want to slow down at road works. It’s not worth risking someone’s life to save a couple of minutes.”

Constable Jackson said.

These road safety operations will continue on both the Bass and Midland highways.
