South East CIB charge two men with manslaughter following altercation in Elizabeth Street Mall
Detectives from South East CIB have charged two men with manslaughter following an altercation in the Elizabeth Street Mall on Tuesday night which has resulted in the death of a man.
Police will allege the two men – aged 31 and 20 – physically assaulted another man about 9pm and knocked him to the ground.
The victim, a 66-year-old man from Hobart, has sadly died as a result of injuries sustained.
“Everyone has the right to be safe in our public places, and no act of violence will be tolerated,” said Detective Inspector David Gill.
The charged men have been detained in custody and will appear before the Hobart Magistrates Court tomorrow morning.
