Targetted attacks on elderly couple’s residence – Dodges Ferry

Sorell police are investigating a series of deliberate acts of damage to an elderly couple’s home in the Dodges Ferry area over the last three weeks.

Three separate incidents occurred in the early hours of the morning on the 7th and 28th of January during which a total of 30 windows have been destroyed by a person/s walking up to the home and smashing the windows with a bar or similar. Damage is estimated to total around $8,000.

“Deliberate destruction of someone else’s property is a crime and not acceptable at any time, but these incidents are incredibly shocking and disappointing,” said Senior Sergeant Hodge.

“This elderly couple have lived in the Dodges Ferry area all their lives, they have provided years of voluntary service to the community and are well respected in the area.

“Understandably they are quite frightened that someone is deliberately damaging their home.

“I urge anyone who knows the person or people responsible for these acts to come forward.

“I also ask anyone who may have seen or heard suspicious behaviour in the areas of Okines Road, Pearl Court, Whitefoord Parade and Albert Court, Dodges Ferry, in the early hours on 7th and 28th January to come forward.”
