Tasmania Police’s 14 new sleek BMW police pack motorcycles are now on the road.

These BMW Motorrad motorcycles have replaced the old fleet of 14 BMW R1200RT, all of which were more than 3 years old or have travelled more than 60,000kms.

Eight motorcycles have been assigned to the Southern police district, with three each in the North and the North-West.

The motorcycles are an integral part of the Tasmania Police fleet, with the advantage of manoeuvrability and ability to access areas that police vehicles can’t, such as narrow alleyways and tracks.

They also provide a fast police response to crashes in heavy traffic.
