SES Severe Weather and Flood Warnings – Community Safety Advice for School Holiday
As a result of continuing severe weather and flood warnings across the State, particularly in Northern Tasmania, during the current school holiday period, the State Emergency Service (SES) is advising parents to make sure all children are supervised if they live in affected areas.
Children should be warned as to the danger posed by flooded rivers, drains or other areas and storm damage such as newly fallen trees.
SES Assistant Director, George Cretu provided a message of re-assurance: “There is no particular threat to any area at the moment but the fact that storms and flooding are still occurring during a holiday period is enough for us to get on the front foot.”
The SES also advises all community members to check on vulnerable neighbours and relatives when flooding or storms are forecast to occur.
