About the Act

The Child and Youth Safe Organisations Act 2023 came into effect in January 2024.

It requires organisations that work with children and young people to take the steps necessary to keep them safe, including reporting concerns about inappropriate conduct by workers – even if it happens outside of work.

Making a request

If you’re investigating a reportable conduct matter and need information from Tasmania Police:

This ensures the request is handled lawfully and efficiently.

Important!

This process only applies to requests made under the Child and Youth Safe Organisations Act 2023.

Other types of requests (for example – mandatory reporting or general information sharing) should continue to follow existing procedures and not use this form.
