ATV crash, Nabageena

At 1:17pm on 20 August, Smithton Police and Ambulance Tasmania were called to attend a crash on private property at Maguires Road, Nabageena.

Five Circular Head girls were riding a Polaris side-by-side ATV.

The driver hit uneven ground causing the centre passenger’s foot to hit the pedals, and the driver to lose control.

The vehicle rolled onto its side landing on the driver’s leg causing a serious fracture.  The children received minor head injuries.

The driver was conveyed to LGH via Helicopter with a serious leg fracture.  The other children were conveyed to the hospital by Ambulance for assessment and treatment.

The vehicle was fitted with seat belts and the children were wearing these at the time of the accident.
