Storm Damage at Turners Beach

At approximately 0600 hours this morning a localised severe weather event caused further damage in the area of the OC Ling Caravan Park, The Esplanade and Boyes Street at Turners Beach. This damage is in addition to damage caused in the area last night after high winds bought down power lines and damaged local residences and sporting facilities.

As a result of this mornings event a number of houses in the area (not effected by last night’s winds) have sustained damage, three severely. A number of caravans in the OC Ling Caravan Park were also severley damaged.

A number of powerlines and power poles have also suffered damaged and there has been no power into the area since approximately 7pm last night.

Crews from the State Emergency Service, Central Coast Council and Networks Tasmania are in attendance.

There are severe wind warning still in place www.bom.gov.au/tas/warnings/

As there is a a large amount of storm debris still in the area which, if affected by high winds, can become airborn and therefore very dangerous Police are encouraging residents to stay indoors if at all possible during these wind events. Police are also encouraging members of the public to limit their travel during these periods.
