Campania Hotel Fire Investigation Update

Investigations continue into a blaze at the Campania Hotel in the early hours of yesterday morning, Wednesday 14 August 2013.  The heritage building was completely gutted.

“Detectives are working closely with the Tasmania Fire Service to determine the events that led to the outbreak of the fire,” said Acting Inspector Joel.

“It is clear the fire has genuinely affected this close community and police will maintain increased patrols,” he said.

The Tasmania Police Command Bus was parked at Campania today and locals were encouraged to speak to Police about the fire or the armed robbery on Friday night.

“It was good to see that several people called by to talk to us.  We encourage anyone with information to speak to their local police officer or contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
