Just after 4.15 am on Saturday 7 June 2014, Tasmania Fire Service responded to a report of a fire at Impact Fertiliser, situated on Derwent Park Road, Derwent Park, adjacent to Nystar. Multiple TFS units attended and eventually bought the fire under control, and restricted fire damage to the electrical control room.

Fire Scene Examiners and Tasmania Police Forensic personnel spent the day conducting investigations into the cause of the fire. Scene examination has established that the fire was deliberately lit and the incident is now being investigated by Glenorchy Criminal Investigation Branch.

Investigators would like to hear from anyone who observed suspicious activity or vehicles in the area of Bender Drive or Derwent Park Road in the early hours of Saturday 7 June 2014.
