Male Charged with Armed Robbery of Devonport Taxi Driver

Devonport Criminal Investigation Branch have charged a 19 year old male from Devonport with the armed robbery of a Taxi Driver on Friday 29 August 2014.

At 1:30 pm on Friday a male was picked up by a taxi from a location in Devonport. The male requested that he be taken to the Devonport Football Oval in James Street, Devonport. At this location the male passenger has produced a knife and demanded cash from the driver.

The male has stolen a quantity of cash from the driver and has then fled on foot. The male has then removed articles of clothing to change his appearance.

Officers from the Devonport Criminal Investigation Branch located the male in the driveway of a property in James Street. The male was arrested and the stolen property and knife were located.

The male was charged and appeared in an out of sittings court at Devonport. He was remanded in custody to re-appear on Monday 1 September at 2:15 pm.

Devonport Criminal Investigation Branch would like to hear from anyone who may have seen a male running in the area of James Street and North Fenton Street on Friday between 1:30 and 1:45 pm.
