Don’t drink drive this footy finals season

Tasmania Police wants everyone to get home from footy finals celebrations safely.

Police will be paying particular attention to alcohol and drug driving, one of the Fatal Five, and one of the biggest contributors to death and injury.

There will be highly visible police operations throughout the State.

Supporting the launch of the #REALMATES advertising campaign in Launceston today, Assistant Commissioner Crime and Operations Donna Adams said:

“Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs greatly increases the chances of crashing.

“You’re not thinking clearly, acting predictably and your reactions are going to be a lot slower than usual. You are a danger to yourself and everyone else you’re sharing the road with.

“If you’re going to celebrate, plan ahead to make sure you have transport home so you’re not tempted to take risks.”
