At around 10.30pm Tuesday 31 May 2016 police and Tas Fire Service were made aware of a structure fire at a Hobart business (Battery World) on the corner of Warwick and Argyle Streets, Hobart.

Upon arrival there was a large amount of smoke coming from the building. The fire was quickly extinguished however there was substantial smoke damage caused inside the building and the roof was destroyed.

The cause of the fire is undetermined at this stage and further investigations will be conducted by the fire scene examiner in consultation with forensic and CIB in the morning.

The value of the damage is estimated to be in excess of $200 000.
