Million dollar drug trafficking charges

Six people have been charged and one million dollars in drugs seized following a three-month operation by Tasmania Police in Launceston.

During Operation Crimson, which started in April this year, methylamphetamine, ecstasy and LSD worth over a million dollars was seized by Police.

Two firearms, a revolver and a rifle, were also seized.

Operation Crimson investigated the importation and trafficking of crystallised methylamphetamine (ICE) in Tasmania.

Caine Robert Richardson, aged 25, of Mowbray, has been charged with 12 offences including aggravated assault, possession of a firearm and trafficking in a controlled substance.

Christine Vernessa Watson, aged 21, of Youngtown, has been charged with seven offences including trafficking in a controlled substance.

Watson and Richardson have already appeared in court.

Another man will appear in the Launceston Magistrate’s Court at 2.15pm today.

Three others will appear in court at a later date.
