What is Make Off Without Payment?
“Making Off Without Payment” is a criminal offence involving intentionally leaving a place where goods or services are provided, without paying for those services, and with the intent to avoid payment.
Common examples of Make Off Without Payment include:
- “Dine and dash”, and
- Leaving a taxi without payment.
What can be reported online?

What do I need to submit a report?
Before you make your report, make sure you have:
- a current and valid email address or mobile phone number – you will need to validate your email address or mobile number when you begin your report
- business details including business name, ABN, address and contact details
- details of the incident including but not limited to:
- date and time incident occurred
- location / address
- details of items or services taken without payment
- any witnesses
- any evidence (photos/videos including CCTV footage etc.)
What happens after I submit a report?
Upon completion of your report you will receive a police report reference number. This reference number can be used for insurance purposes or for any further enquiries regarding the matter.
What police response should I expect?
It’s important to understand that police will only contact you if further information is required, or if there is an outcome such as an arrest or recovery of stolen property.
