Industrial accident, Woolston Printing, Western Junction

Police responded to a call for assistance to an industrial accident, at Woolston Printing, Boral Road, Western Junction this morning at about 9.25am.

A 43 year old man had been using a machine to compress paper waste into bins.

Another employee found him trapped inside the machine.  Staff rushed to assist the man.  He was rescued from the machine and attempts were made to resuscitate him.

Ambulance attended and conveyed the injured man to the LGH where he was admitted to ICU.  Sadly he passed away at about 2.45pm this afternoon.

Police and WorkSafe Tasmania are conducting an investigation to establish the cause of the accident and will speak to witnesses as part of the ongoing investigation.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
