Police officer charged

A police officer from Tasmania Police’s Southern District has been charged with firearms offences.

The 57-year-old man has been charged with possession of an unregistered firearm and failing to take all precautions to ensure the safe keeping of a firearm, under the Firearms Act 1996.

The charges relate to three firearms held in a private capacity. He is due to appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court on 9 March, 2018.
