A Western District Constable has been charged in relation to an alleged drink driving incident near Burnie last night.

The 23 year old female police officer recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.060 after a minor single vehicle crash at the Bass Highway, Heybridge, about 8.30pm last night.

The officer has been charged with one count of Exceed 0.05.

The officer was off duty at the time of the incident. The officer will be assigned to non-operational duties until resolution of court proceedings and related disciplinary action.

The officer will appear in court at a later date.
