Official Visit – Traffic Disruptions (Hobart) – Tuesday 18 November

On Tuesday 18th November 2014, an Official Visit to Hobart will result in the closure of roads and highways for varying periods.

In accordance with Section 56A of the Vehicle and Traffic Act 1999, Tasmania Police advise of the temporary closing of the following roads to facilitate the Official Visit.

Lower Domain Road from the Tasman Highway to Domain Highway, and Upper Domain Road at the Crossroads Junction, will be closed from late Monday evening 17 November until 5 .30pm 18 November. There will be no public parking permitted within this area on 18 November.

The Botanical Gardens entrance off Lower Domain Road will be closed. Access to the Botanical Gardens is via the Domain Highway entrance only, where there will be no public parking.

The footpath on the western side of the Tasman Highway which bounds Government House property will be closed from the junction of Tasman Highway/Lower Domain Road to the Tasman Bridge.

The Tasman Bridge will be closed for a ten minute period at approximately 11:30am and again at 3:50pm.

Travellers should add at least an additional hour to the travel time to the Hobart International Airport, particularly around the above times.

Evans Street from Davey Street. And Hunter Street, adjacent to Macquarie Wharf No 1 for vehicles and pedestrians accessing Macquarie Wharf.

Pinnacle Road and Pillinger Drive will be closed at Huon Road between 12 midday and 3.45pm. Local traffic only on Pillinger Drive.

It is anticipated that there will be short term road closures through the Hobart CBD throughout the day which may result in traffic delays.

The times for the closures may be subject to change. Police will be in attendance to manage traffic.
