The Keith Smith Community Policing Award honours those who go beyond traditional policing by building trust, fostering partnerships, and improving the social cohesion of their communities.

Keith Smith Community Policing Award

In honour of Constable Smith, Commissioner Donna Adams established the Keith Smith Community Policing Award in September 2025.

Nominations for the 2026 award are now open.

We’re seeking nominations from within Tasmania Police and members of the Tasmanian community for a currently-serving police officer who demonstrates an outstanding commitment to community-focused policing and engagement, and whose service to the community reflects the compassion, service, and trust that Constable Smith embodied throughout his 25-year career.

Eligibility

This award recognises a currently-serving member of Tasmania Police who has made a significant impact through community policing and engagement.

It aims to highlight those officers who have contributed meaningfully to safety and connection, and building cohesion within Tasmanian communities.

Nominees for the Keith Smith Community Policing Award must be a currently serving member of Tasmania Police.

*IMPORTANT: The nominee does not need to be assigned to any specific area and can be performing any operational or non-operational duties within Tasmania Police.
