22 year old man charged in relation to Launceston burglaries

Launceston CIB today charged a 22 year old Rocherlea man in relation to a series of burglaries in Launceston’s northern suburbs.

 

The man will appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court this evening charged with 13 counts of burglary, 2 counts of Attempted Burglary and 7 counts of stealing.

 

Det Senior Sergeant John Parker of Northern CIB said “Police had been actively seeking the arrest of the man for some weeks now,  and it was not until he was able to be apprehended allegedly committing a burglary of the Rocherlea Football Club last night, that he was able to be taken in to custody.”

 

The alleged crimes relate to burglaries during October and November at Brooks High School (8 occasions), Bungawitta Child Care Centre (2 occasions) Life without Barriers (1 occasion) and a burglary of the Northern Suburbs Community Centre.  Property taken was mostly food and beverages.
