Aggravated Armed Robbery, Hobart

Hobart Detectives are investigating an aggravated armed robbery committed on the driver of a taxi about 4.20am 10th January 2012.

Two male suspects approached the taxi that was in the top end of Liverpool Street above Molle Street, Hobart.  Both males produced knives demanding money from the driver of the taxi.  A small quantity of money and the victim’s wallet and cards were handed to the offenders prior to them running off up Liverpool Streetin the direction of South Hobart.

The victim was not injured during the robbery.

Items belonging to the victim were located in the vicinity of Anglesea Street, South Hobart.

The suspects were described as:

Suspect 1

  • Male
  • 18-19 years
  • Large/heavy build
  • Fair complexion
  • Clean shaven
  • 175 cm tall
  • Pink hooded top pulled up over head
  • Dark trousers

Suspect 2

  • Male
  • Thin skinny build
  • 18-19 years
  • Fair complexion
  • Clean shaven
  • Black track pants with three white stripes on the side.

Police would like to speak with any witnesses in relation to the matter and request the public notify Police if any knives or clothing may have been discarded by the offenders are located in the areas between Molle Street and Anglesea Street.  This includes the area of the Hobart Rivulet leading up to Anglesea Street.
