Aggravated Armed Robbery – Launceston

Tasmania Police are currently investigating an aggravated armed robbery which occurred at approximately 9pm on Saturday 25 May 2019 at an address in Heather Street, South Launceston.

During the robbery, two male persons, one of whom was allegedly armed with a firearm, have forcibly entered the residence and demanded money from the occupant, a 75 year old male who lives alone.   During the robbery, the victim was struck a number of times and as a result suffered a number of lacerations and other injuries.

The offenders fled the property with a small quantity of property.

The male offenders are described as 20 years of age, one of whom was approximately 6ft tall, of slim build and wearing a face covering.   The only available description of the second male was that he was shorter than the first one.

Police would like to hear from anybody who may have seen two persons acting suspiciously in the area of Heather Street, Launceston anytime between 1.00pm and 9pm on Saturday afternoon/evening.   Police would also like to speak to anyone who may have CCTV that faces onto Heather Street or any of the other surrounding streets.
