A 21 year old man has been arrested, charged and detained for court in relation to a serious assault that occurred in Elizabeth Street, North Hobart outside the Republic Bar at 2.35 am on Christmas Day.

The victim is still in a critical condition in the Royal Hobart Hospital in a medically induced coma.
