Assault Incident – West Hobart

Police are investigating a wounding at a residence in West Hobart last night.

Just before 10 o’clock last night, police were called to the residence in Hill Street in relation to a report of a disturbance at a private resident. During the altercation two males were assaulted, with one suffering multiple wounds to the neck and legs, with the other receiving minor injuries.

The wounded man, a 38 year old man from West Hobart, left the scene, but was located shortly after by police in Warwick Street where they administered first-aid, prior to treatment by Ambulance Tasmania.

The victim was transported to the Royal Hobart Hospital where he underwent surgery for non-life threatening injuries and is presently recovering in a stable condition.

Police established a crime scene at the Hill Street address where investigations, including forensic examination are continuing.

The public should be reassured that the police were on the scene very quickly and were able to locate and render first aid to the victim. Preliminary indications are this incident involved parties that were known to each other, and police investigations are continuing.
