Cadbury Marathon – Traffic Diversions

Police want to remind the public that the Cadbury Marathon will be held this Sunday, commencing at 0600hrs.

The event begins and ends at the Cadbury Factory, Cadbury Road. There will be a full marathon, half marathon and short course events, including one for juniors. There are already some 1300 entrants including international runners.

The runners travel down Cadbury Road and right into Bilton Street and then run along Main Road Austins Ferry to Main Road Claremont, Main Road Berridale and then along the left hand south-bound lane of the Brooker Highway to the Derwent Entertainment Centre. The full marathon is 2 laps of this course.

South-bound traffic will be blocked from Ten Mile Hill, Main Road, AustinsFerry and the Brooker Highwaywill have only one south-bound lane between 6am and 10am between the Berridale Slip Laneand the DEC.

North-bound traffic will be unaffected.

Motorists heading south in affected areas should simply turn north initially and then take the shortest route to the Brooker Highwayto avoid delays.

South-bound bus services will be affected between 6am and 10am. 

There will be a large police presence to ensure safety and police ask motorists to drive with care and obey all directions.
