Crash, Southern Outlet, Mount Nelson

Tasmania Police are investigating a single vehicle crash that occurred on the Southern Outlet at Mount Nelson on Saturday 15 December 2012.

At about 11.05am, a white coloured Ford Festiva was travelling in the north bound lane enroute to Hobart.  While negotiating a slight left hand bend, the driver lost control of the vehicle causing it to roll onto its roof.

Emergency Services attended the scene and the driver, a 20 year old female from Hobart’s eastern shore, was removed with non-serious injuries.  She was transported to the Royal Hobart Hospital for examination and later discharged.

The crash caused traffic disruptions for about two hours while the scene was examined and safely cleared.

Tasmania Police are continuing with investigations but at this stage, neither speed nor alcohol appear to be contributing factors.  The road surface was wet at the time of the crash.

Sergeant John Delpero of Hobart Police Station said, “The vehicle sustained considerable damage but fortunately the driver received minor injuries only.  This crash reinforces our message that properly fitted seatbelts do prevent serious injuries.”

Anyone with information in relation to the crash is asked to phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
