Approximately 10.00am this morning, police were notified that the body of a deceased male had been located in the sand dunes adjacent to Wentworth Park at Salacia Avenue, Howrah.

Police have attended the location and are conducting enquiries relating to the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.  The body is believed to be that of a male aged approximately 60 years, however the identity of the person has not yet been established.

Detectives from Bellerive Criminal Investigation Branch, uniform police and Forensic Examiners are in attendance at the scene. 

Detective Senior Sergeant Cameron Bessell said “at this point there is no evidence to lead us to believe there are any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.  Police are enquiring into the circumstances and as such a thorough examination of the scene including a line search is being undertaken”.  “Until we can determine the cause of death, which will be on completion of a post mortem, we will continue to examine how the body came to be in the location and attempt to establish how the man died.”
