Devonport Cup Update of Police Operations

Police were present in large numbers again to ensure a safe and successful 2016 Devonport Cup at Tapeta Park yesterday.  With a larger crowd in attendance police were kept busy ensuring public safety throughout the event, including traffic movements to and from the racecourse.

 

The results of the police operations were:

Supply Liquor to Underage Person:      0

Inspector Shane LeFevre said:

 

“Police were again generally pleased with the relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere at the Cup with only one or two minor incidents throughout the afternoon.  The degree of planning and cooperation with the race committee is greatly appreciated with such a large event.”

 

Police operations continued after the races, continuing a focus on public order within the Devonport CBD as revellers entered local licenced establishments.

 

 

“Following the Cup a large number of patrons attended licenced premises in the Devonport CBD,” Inspector LeFevre added.

 

“There were no arrests within the Devonport CBD will all venues closed by 2am without reported incident.”
