On Saturday 2^nd January 2016 at 8:00pm a serious motor vehicle crash occurred on the East Tamar Highway near the Mowbray Connector. A rider and a pillion passenger riding a black motor cycle on the wrong side of the road collided with a white Toyota Hilux four wheel drive traveling in the south bound traffic lane.

Both people on the motor cycle died as a result of the collision.

The driver of the white Hilux sustained minor injuries.

Crash Investigation Services are currently investigating the matter.

Police are requesting any witnesses who observed the black motor cycle riding shortly before the crash to come forward and speak to Launceston Police.
