Duck Reach helicopter rescue

At approximately 12:45pm on Thursday 1 November 2010 the Westpac Police Rescue Helicopter was activated to rescue a 40 year old Launceston man who had suffered a fall while rock climbing.

The accident happened at Duck Reach, which is further upstream from the Cataract Gorge.  The man had suspected spinal injuries.

An Ambulance Tasmania Paramedic was winched to the scene of the accident and packaged the man in a wilderness stretcher. The man was then winched into the Helicopter by the Tasmania Police crewman and flown to the Launceston General Hospital.
