Fatal motorcycle and utility crash on Steele Street, Devonport

At around 10:27am on Sunday the 27th day of October 2019, Police were alerted to a crash between a motorcycle and a utility towing a caravan on Steele Street, Devonport.

The motorcycle has been driven eastbound on the Don road just prior to where it meets Steele Street.  The rider of the motorcycle was a 33 year old man from Devonport.

At this time a Ford utility towing a caravan has been traveling westbound on Steele Street prior to stopping to turn right through the intersection to continue on Steele Street. The driver was a 49 year old male, the sole occupant of the vehicle.

Whilst the utility was making its turn to continue onto Steele Street it has collided with the motorcycle rider.

The motorcycle rider was initially provided first aid at the scene by members of the public and emergency services prior to being transported by ambulance to the North West Regional Hospital. The rider passed away a short time later.

The utility driver was not physically injured.

Police crash investigators would like to hear from any member of the public who may have seen either vehicle prior to the incident or who may have actually witnessed the crash.
