At about 11.30pm on 21 December 2016, Police attended a fatal traffic crash in Weetah Road Weetah.

Initial investigation indicates that a white Mazda van was being driven west on Weetah Road.

The male driver crested a hill and observed a Mitsubishi Lancer partly out of a driveway, he braked and swerved losing control of his vehicle before hitting a bank on the left side of the road.

A woman was standing next to the Lancer and upon seeing the Mazda approaching ran across the road into the path of the van and was hit. She died at the scene.

Investigations are continuing regarding the cause of the crash.
